Resume Objectives for Teachers

It is not uncommon for people to put in an objective in their resume, but when you are a teacher you have to be careful to use the proper resume objectives in your teachers resume so that you come off clear and concise. If you are in sales, you objectives are to increase the sales of a company and bring in more money to the bottom line. But a teacher is responsible for leading and guiding the youth of the country and that represents a wide scale variety.

When writing your resume objective for your teachers resume you want it to be very targeted to a specific audience. This audience will be the level that you are wishing to teach. While you do want to keep it targeted and brief, you do need to give it some pizzazz as well.

You also need to realize that you are either a teacher who is just starting their career or a seasoned teacher who is looking for a new opportunity. However, the person reading your resume will not know which the case is if you do not convey this properly in your resume objective.

Here are some examples of how you might write a resume objective if you are just beginning your teaching career:

• Example 1: Obtain a position within an elementary school where I can use my University training to develop the training necessary to begin my teaching career.
• Example 2: Obtain a position within the K-4 classrooms where I can improve the students writing and research skills while furthering my experience.
• Example 3: I seek to become a part of an elementary school system so that I may utilize my Masters Degree.

All three examples of teachers resume objectives show that you are willing to take on the beginning roles of a teacher and that you are just starting out and wanting to learn as well. You can also include specifically what it is you want to teach such as science or mathematics, but many times with a teacher just starting out you have to be able to cover a broad spectrum.

Here are some examples of how you might write a resume objective is you are an experienced teacher:

• Example 1: I wish to obtain a position in a Florida public school where I can provide a challenging and constructive classroom environment as I continue to develop my 10 years of experience.
• Example 2: I am an experienced special education teacher who seeks the opportunity to advance my career while helping students overcome challenges.
• Example 3: I seek to obtain a position where I can utilize my strong classroom skills, high education, and my outstanding ability to work with others.

All three instances show what it is you want to do and they also show to some extent that you have experience as a teacher.

While the resume objective part of your resume is in fact a very small part of it, it is also a very important part of it. By targeting the specific audience you are after and using a clear, concise, and powerful statement you can be sure that the person reviewing your teachers resume will know exactly where it is that you stand.
